Movie Review: “Billu” a nice movie to see

Filmmaker Priyadarshan has proved it once again that he’s a master story teller with nice narrating skill.

This time the movie maker has come up with Billu Barber(don’t read barber). It’s a story of barber, Billu(Irfaan Khan) who’s doing business in his village and not able to cope up with the latest changing business trend. His business is not doing enough well, but he’s not able to change himself according to the latest trends.

One day, a film unit visits his village to shoot a movie that stars superstar Sahir Khan (Shah Rukh), who Billu claims to have been friends with. After the incident Billu’s status in the village keep growing.

All the villagers want to meet the superstar through the Billu Barber, at the same time Billu fears that the star may not recognise him.
Though, he makes attempts to meet the star but fails and gives up.

The villagers say he lied about the relationship with the star and insult him. But at the end of the movie the truth about his friendship with the actor comes out.

Though, the movie is good one but despite the pre-release buzz, the film has not generated mass appeal. Music is average and couldn’t create a buzz.

Irrfan Khan in the title role while Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan makes a guest appearance in the comedy.

The movie is Produced by Shah Rukh’s Red Chillies Entertainment, the film’s much-talked about special attraction apart from Shah Rukh himself are item numbers featuring Kareena Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra.

Earlier titled Billu Barber, the film is now called Billu as it fell prey to controversies by the Hairdresser’s Association of Mumbai for hurting their sentiments with its title - a week before its release.

Billu is said to be a remake of the hugely successful Malayalam film Kadha Parayumbol (2007). It was remade in Tamil as Kuselan and megastar Rajnikant made a guest appearance in it.
